My days at Boston Latin School
Hi guys!
My name is Nhan Truong, and I am your average young 18 year old boy with high hopes and big dreams! I live in Boston with a family of five: My dad, my mom, my older and younger sisters, and myself. I come from a Vietnamese background, but I was born here, in Massachusetts. Still, I never lose interest in my ethnicity’s culture, traditions, and, especially, language. I have always thought it would be cool to master at least 5 languages so I could travel around certain parts of the world and manage to survive! Therefore, I’ve been taking Chinese since 2011 to add another language to my list. I’ve only had two Chinese teachers thus far, and they have both worked to improve certain dynamics of my learning, contributing to my experience and love for the Chinese culture and language. Aside from learning languages, I also really enjoy listening to music and painting. I always believe that if I ever needed to escape from any stress, I would just need to plug my earphones in or grab a paintbrush and splash some colors on a canvas. Art is the way to go! Now that’s enough about my personal life. Here is my school life! I am a proud student of Boston Latin School, Class of 2016. Being here for a little over 4 years has gradually changed my initial”hate” for this school’s tedious work to become a brighter light of experience and wonderful bonds. Boston Latin School seeks to build a community among its faculty members and students, and it has certainly done so. I wake up at 6:15 every weekday to get ready for school because school starts at 7:45 and it ends at 2:15. The time in between is distributed upon 7 different subjects: math, english, biology, history, orchestra, and most certainly Chinese. After being dismissed at 2:15, I also attend to clubs such as A.S.I.A. (Asian Students in Action) and V.S.S. (Vietnamese Students’ Society), both at which seek to highlight the great cultural achievements of Asian cultures. Then, I proceed to go home and complete my hours upon hours of homework and projects. In the end, I do genuinely appreciate the experience and value that Boston Latin School does offer, and so, I hope that through this blog, you are able to textually and possibly, visually, experience my life at Boston Latin School and understand more about a student’s life in America. |
