My parents' immigration story:
It happened mainly during 1997, the year I was born. My father had already migrated to Boston from Vietnam prior to that, after having had my older sister. My dad and his family moved to the United States first in order to settle down and grab hold of a stable financial status before bringing my mother over. He would come back to visit my mother and my older sister every time he could, which was typically yearly, and it wasn't until 1997 that my family was able to reunite permanently. My mother was actually pregnant with me while she was on the plane, so I'm glad I made it over safely. She said I was very good, and didn't cause her too much pain while she was up in the air. Once we landed (myself included, despite still being in the womb), we all settled into the house that my father had prepared for us. Just a few months after, I was born and nearly 6 years later, my little sister followed suit. Even though we have officially settled in America, we still occasionally visit my maternal family back in Vietnam. And that is the story of how we are where we are, now.
